Nancy Gaston, Board Secretary
Nancy Gaston fell in love with libraries as a twelve-year-old in Michigan when she read her way through a whole shelf full of Lloyd C. Douglas fiction. With a degree in English (and a minor in Library Science) from Eastern Michigan University as well as a degree in Theology from McGill University, Nancy was a high school English, journalism and speech teacher and a freelance writer before changing careers to nonprofit management and volunteer engagement. She has also served as a church staff member, and she currently runs a training and consulting practice, Gifts Differing.
Nancy, her husband and three daughters lived in such far-flung places as Tampa, New Orleans, Cleveland, Geneva (Switzerland) and Montreal before settling in Vancouver in 1985. Her wide experience in community involvement has included serving on many boards over the years, including the Clark County YWCA, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, and the Nonprofit Network of Southwest Washington.
